Staple Approach
DREW PAVELCHAK
Staple Approach (2009)
mixed media
"A stapler and sheets of paper flutter and vibrate as they approach the moment of their intended unification. Never quite making it though, the time before that moment is instead emphasized: slowing it down, reversing it, and drawing it out into an infinitely long state of anticipation."

First video
I mostly just wanted to record the music on the radio, and thought testing the video on the camera would be a good idea. Hopefully, more meaningful videos to come shortly.

Persuasion
I write this in amidst the most uncertain time in my life. I am on the verge of completing an advanced degree, smoking and drinking more heavily than I've done since the summer, am moving back home to Brooklyn, have no solid plan as far as employment, and I've not even thought about how I'm going to afford the high cost of living when I return to the city.
Yet....

I can't stop fucking around with this damn smiley face!
Fan-FUCKING-tastic. I have a new plan to open up my own bike-repair shop. I just need a little more PERSUASION.

(NO COARSE-GRAINS ALLOWED) STAY ON COURSE
"My smile is stuck
I cannot go back t' yer Frownland
My spirit's made up of the ocean
And the sky 'n the sun 'n the moon
'n all my eye can see
I cannot go back to yer land of gloom
Where black jagged shadows
Remind me of the comin' of yer doom
I want my own land
Take my hand 'n come with me
It's not too late for you
It's not too late for me
To find my homeland
Where uh man can stand by another man
Without an ego flyin'
With no man lyin'
'n no one dyin' by an earthly hand
Let the devils burn 'n the beggar learn
'n the little girls that live in those old worlds
Take my kind hand
My smile is stuck
I cannot go back t' yer Frownland
I cannot go back t' yer Frownland"

Inspired insomnia (prelude)
POPTONES has great observational imagery of a day-trip to the forest, a fantastic bassline, and minimalistic country-tinged guitar lines. That does it for me.
Drive to the forest in a japanese car
The smell of rubber on concrete tar
Hindsight done me no good
Standing naked in the back of the woods
The cassette played poptones
I can't forget the impression you made
You left a hole in the back of my head
I don't like hiding in this foliage and peat
It's wet and I'm losing my body heat
The cassette played poptones
This bleeding heart
Looking for bodies
Nearly injured my pride
Praise picnicking in the British countryside
